I still can't believe that Thanksgiving has already come & gone. Just proof that our time in Cambridge is quickly ticking away.

John & I spent Thanksgiving weekend in New Woodstock, about 6 hours from Boston in upstate New York. It was great to get away & spend time with family. Thanksgiving day was spent at John's cousin Lorrie's house. Not only did we get to see many of the Wright family (John's mom's side), but we also got to meet Mabel (a precious little pig), Max (a loving dog), & Tiger & Muffin (two incredibly sweet cats). The spread was amazing with more pies than you can imagine.

We also got to spend time at Tammy's (another cousin) for a Wright family luncheon. Really great to catch up with everyone after so many years.

There was even a little time to enjoy the very cute town of Cazenovia...a brisk jog, some coffee, a little pizza, & a lovely little inn where Rob, John's brother, used his connections to upgrade our room to a king - way to go Rob!

Hope you all had a fantastic turkey day, too!

brownies for a cause

With Christmas just around the corner, this seems like a great gift option if you're in need of an idea. I was made aware of the Khaya Cookie Company at DailyCandy. For more info, read the excerpt below:
....................
The Khaya kay'a (meaning "home" in Xhosa) Cookie Company Creates Opportunity One Bite at a Time by hiring men and women from townships across South Africa to bake handmade cookies which are brought fresh to your door in the United States. We provide men and women with a steady income and a sense of pride and dignity.

We aim to create Societal Wealth by reducing the "tin-cup" dependency. By helping people earn an income they are no longer reliant upon hand-outs.

The bakers of the Khaya Cookie Company come from the townships which surround Cape Town and primarily from the township of Khayelitsha. Today, almost one million people live below poverty level in crowded, one room "homes" in Khayelitsha. These homes are typically made from sheets of corrugated iron or any available timber. One out of every four children suffers from chronic malnutrition and 70% of all women who are heads of households are unemployed.

Each time you take a bite out of a Khaya Cookie, you help Create Opportunity One Bite at a Time.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

our cambridge digs

Just thought I'd fill a request from my friend Jen & finally send out photos of our apartment. We are definitely enjoying the fireplace as the temperature is starting to drop! You can see a few more photos in our album. Have a fantastic day!

section e retreat

Last weekend we headed to Stowe, Vermont for the HBS Section E Retreat. It was a great opportunity to finally meet all of John's classmates. We had a great time...a little hiking in the snow (without the appropriate footwear!), a visit to the Cold Hollow Cider Mill, a tour at the Ben & Jerry's factory (we got to sample the new flavor called American Pie - apples, crust, & vanilla ice cream...yummy!), a bit of time around the very cute town, & participation in a crazy Halloween party. John & I did get nominated in the couples vote, but the ultimate winner was the fantastic Britney & Kevin couple (pregnant & all). You can check out more photos if you click on our album. Hope your Halloween was as equally boisterous!

coco in cambridge

We're finally getting a little use out of our guest bedroom with visits from Bonnie, & then Janet & Coco. I had a great time walking around Cambridge, enjoying cafes, cooking, chatting, & relaxing. And little Coco was right at home. Missing the little cutie already:-(

FYI: Just remember that the Casa Winfield is always open for business!

girls just wanna have fun

Who would have thought that the business school experience would include a bunch of grown men in Hooter's attire? Although we didn't attend the actual Priscilla Ball, we did stop by the Section E pre-party to take a look. More tight shorts & boobs than you can imagine! See a few more fun shots by clicking our album link.

John had some fun with the camera & what resulted was a little view into his day in Cambridge & on campus. I was a little surprised that there were no Shad Gym photos - definitely John's favorite place on campus! Check out our album link to get a better glimpse.
